Screening

Screening is looking for cancer before a person has any symptoms. This can help find cancer at an early stage. When abnormal tissue or cancer is found early, it may be easier to treat. By the time symptoms appear, cancer may have begun to spread.

Screening for breast cancer with mammogram and breast us is recommended for women above the age of 40 years with average risk annually.

Women with high risk (positive family history of 1\first degree relative) should start screening 10 years prior to the relative’s age of disease.
